Red River RSES Chapter Meeting Minutes

December 10, 2002

Meeting was called to order, and roll call of officers was taken.
23 members and 4 guests were present

Guests were introduced.

Correspondence from International sent to Chapter Officers - None reported.
Old Business:
CM & CMS pins are available to those members eligible and have not received one. Members interested to contact Chapter Secretary, David Olson, CMS to obtain a pin.
65th Annual RSES Conference report was given by Ivan Maas, CMS.
Recognition of Joel Krause, CM, recipient of the John Spence Award for achieving highest grade within the past year on the Certificate Member exam.
Joel Krause, CM thanked the chapter and its members for their support and assistance in attending the 65th Annual Conference.
The door prize was won by Dave Stoskopf, CM.
New Business:
Report on the R.W. Kellow Foundation Compressor Seminar held on December 6th, and 7th, 2002 given by Chapter President Chris Daly, CM. 92 attendees on Friday, and 86 attendees on Saturday.
Discussion on chapter profit from seminar. Motion made to send ½ of the profit to the R.W. Kellow Foundation, and table further discussion. Motion died for lack of second. Motion made to send $3,000 to the R.W. Kellow Foundation, donate $500 to the Roy G. Hackney Memorial fund at the North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS), Wahpeton, ND, and deposit remainder in the the chapter general fund, dedicated for future R.W. Kellow seminars. Motion seconded and carried.
19 CM and 10 CMS tests were given to eligible members.
Motion made to return to Irv Moeller, CMS, Past International President, the $80 seminar registration fee for payment of proctoring the CM & CMS tests. Motion seconded and carried.
New member applicants were presented. Motion made to accept new members - seconded and carried.
Chapter Educational session was presented on Air and Water Balancing by Chuck Townsend, and Marv Glasser of Design Control, Fargo, ND.

Report from the chapter delegate to the 65th Annual RSES Conference will be given to the chapter at the December 2002 meeting.

Discussed an electrical review course before the compressor seminar. Time to be determined by Ivan Maas, CMS.
The door prize was won by Mark Sorby.
New Business:
Builders Exchange Christmas "Stocking Stuffers" program. Motion made to give $200 to the Exchange. Motion passed.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned for the educational presentation by Greg Olson of B.J. Mulcahy on Variable Frequency Drive (VFD's).

CM, CMS & NATE testing will be available to members at the compressor seminar scheduled in December. Exact date, times, and location to be announced.
Self Study CD-ROM course availability and cost information.
New Business:
Introduction of web officer as David Olson, CMS.
Sign up for meeting notices via e-mail sign up sheets were made available.
CFC Seminar & Test to be offered on November 2, 2002 at RHI.
Joel Krause, CM, is to receive the John Spence award for the high score in the nation on the CM exam. Motion made to grant Joel money for travel expenses. Motion passed.
Discussion on holding an electrical study group prior to the compressor seminar to be open to all members. Dates & times to be determined.
Award of CMS plaques to Electrical Specialist recipients by Irv Moeller, CMS, RSES International President.
Introduction of the guest speaker.

Correspondence: Ivan Maas, CMS will be the delegate to the RSES International Conference Business meeting to be held in Las Vegas next month. Joel Krouse, CM will be the alternate delegate.
Motion made to give Ivan $400 for travel expense, motion passed.
Old Business:
Compressor seminar for December 6th & 7th was discussed.
New Business:
David Olson is to be the designated chapter web officer for computer correspondence with International.
Passed out sign up sheets for e-mail addresses for meeting notifications.
Irv Moeller, CMS, RSES International President swore in four new members.
Irv Moeller, CMS, RSES International President presented a CMS plaque to Ivan Maas, CMS.
