Red River RSES Chapter Meeting Minutes


December 14, 2004

Meeting was called to order, and roll call of officers was taken.

The last months minutes were approved as posted on the web site.
The treasurer's report was given by Todd Moeller, CM and approved.
Two door prizes were given out for Christmas. They were won by Steve Cron and Mark Harding.
Old Business:
Chris Daly, CM gave a report on the Kellow Seminar held December 4th 2004. It was a success.
Terry Grundysen, CMS presented the Red River RSES and the UMRA Association with checks for 1082.49 for the last UMRA conference held in Fargo 2004. The checks were presented to Mike Kempel, CMS and Chris Daly, CM.
New Business:
The following names were submitted for membership and approved pending payment of dues, Andrew Curtis &Dean Heilman
A motion was made and accepted to accept the resignation of Michael Blotske, CM as current Treasurer and to accept Todd Moeller, CM as the new Treasurer.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
A Christmas Social was held in place of an educational meeting

Mike Kempel, CMS gave a short report on the upcoming 3rd annual Kellow seminar to be held Dec. 4th 2004 at the Howard Johnson's Motel in Fargo ND. This seminar and the Christmas Party to be held at RHI Supply on Dec. 14th are to take the place of the monthly meeting.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
The Educational meeting was presented Mark Miller. He represents Central Boiler Co. and spoke about outdoor wood burning boilers.

Irv Moeller CMS gave us a short report on the next international conference.

David Olson CMS Gave us a talk about our next meeting to be held at the Kelly Inn, 3800 Main AVE Fargo, OCT.13 2004, members who plan on attending must RSVP, and choose between steak or chicken. The meeting will be hosted by Yes Distributing and they will be talking about Scotsman Ice Machines.
Door prize was won by Kevin Kubischta, CM.

Drawing was held for the annual membership attendance prize. 18 members were eligible after attending a minimum of 5 of the 8 meetings held during the 2003-2004 meeting year. The prize was won by Terry Grundysen, CMS.
Old Business:
None presented.
New Business:
Meeting location for the 2004-2005 meeting year. Three wholesale houses and three motels were offered as potential locations to hold the meetings. After discussion and vote by show of hands, RHI Supply was voted as the continued meeting location for the 2004-2005 meeting year.
Election of 2004-2005 officers. Steve Bulat, CM, was presented as the candidate for Sergeant at Arms. Motion from the floor for nomination cease and unanimous vote for said candidate, motion carried. Motion from the floor that the Chapter Secretary and Chapter Vice President move up one chair position for the 2004-2005 meeting year, motion carried.
Designation of Ivan Maas, CMS, as the Chapter Delegate to the 2004 RSES International Conference in October.
Announcements of chapter member recent accomplishments. Mark Wood, CMS, passed the Domestic Service Specialist exam, Cleon Cathcart, CM, passed the Certificate Member exam, Chris Daly, CM, was awarded the UMRA Outstanding Achievement Award, and Gary Nysveen, CM was elected UMRA Sergeant at Arms.
Membership certificates were handed out.
Report on the UMRA Conference by Mike Kempel, CMS, and Terry Grundysen, CMS
Announced that the Badlands RSES Chapter, Bismarck, ND, is hosting an IAQ Seminar in August. Details to be posted on the Red River Chapter web site.
Monthly door prize drawing was won by Cleon Cathcart, CM.

The education session on the process of how the local mechanical codes are adopted by the city, and proposed changed to the upcoming code was presented by Jerry Palmer, Commercial Mechanical Inspector, City of Fargo, ND.

New RSES catalog is available
Twin Cities RSES is hosting an Electrical Schematic Analysis seminar on March 27, with a registration deadline of March 12.
Old Business:
Discussion on holding the regularly scheduled April meeting, as it is a couple of days before the UMRA conference. Consensus was since Red River chapter is hosting the UMRA conference, that the meeting would be skipped.
New Business:
Reminder of March 15 early registration deadline for reduced pricing for the URMA conference.

The education session covering National Electric Code Study meeting requirements for code study education credits for the Minnesota Power Limited Technician electrical license was presented by Sheldon Monson, Electrical Area Representative.

Update on status of UMRA preparations
Old Business:
MN Electrical Code training for Power Limited Technician License for March meeting.
New Business:
Web site contract renewal. Motion made to continue operating chapter web site. Motion carried.
Discussion on moving the April 2004 meeting from the normal 2nd Tuesday of the month to April 15th at the UMRA Conference location. No final determination made.

The educational session was presented on Off Peak Electric Heat by Paul Matthys & Jeremy Mahowald with Cass County Electric.

January 13, 2004

Meeting was held at the American Red Cross training facility for certification in First Air and CPR. Arrangements were made for spouses to attend this training. Due to the time required for the training course, the Red River RSES Officers determined that there would not be sufficient time to hold a business meeting at this date.
This training session was attended by 22 members and 7 spouses.
The door prize was won by Claire Lyche.
